Photographer's Note

On the way to the amazingly beautiful "Subway" in the Zion NP, you'll pass "The Crack", a small crack in the rocky river bed of the North Creek, where some of the water squeezes through at high speed.
If you take a slow shutter speed, the water becomes "milky" and looks like quicksilver.
The North Creek belongs to the Kolob Plateau and is located in the western part of the National Park. If you want to visit it, you need a backcountry permit, which you can obtain at the the NPS in Springdale. Because the permit is restricted, you have to make a reservation well ahead (there is an online permit lottery).
