Photographer's Note

I captured this image on my first trip to Seattle, Washington. I had seen many shots of the famous Space Needle over the years, which is probably the most photographed subject in the city, and I really wanted to get some shots of it, but I didn't want the typical composition. A coworker/friend and me decided to check out the Seattle Center area of the city at late afternoon. The whole time I was there I was looking for wide angle compositions to capture the Space Needle up close. I wasn't happy with anything I was coming up with. I noticed the Merry-go-round and the Ferris Wheel , and I was wondering whether or not they lit up nicely when the sun set. I asked my friend if she minded waiting around for another hour and a half or so until the sun set and the lights came on. She reluctantly agreed, and I think it was worth it. This shot was taken just before dark, while there was still a bit of light left in the sky.
