Photographer's Note
Part 3 of a 13-item series on slacklining on library lawn at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Getting accustomed to the feeling of standing on a one-inch wide piece of webbing can take a little bit of time, but with some help, this lady (named Samantha) was starting to get the feel for it. Soon the time would come when the slackline didn't seem such an intimidating thing, and some of the bold newcomers would start to make efforts without assistance.
On a more personal note, i feel that this is the weakest picture in the series, but i wanted to include one that featured one of the ladies who asked for help on the line receiving said help, as well as a picture that included a bit of the Student Union for context, as the Student Union is one of the most prominent features in the area.
Included are two bonus pictures centered loosely on this theme.

I agree with everything said in your notes for this photo and the workshop. The main thing that keeps the continuity going here is the actual line itself. Then, Samantha and the two bracers give this photo the context of slacklining. They keep the essay moving onto maybe the first photo in your workshop. It might be a weak photo in itself, but it definitly is congruent to the series.
Keep them coming Sam!

hey sam,
good one, the geometry of the figure is all right but i wish i could see some more "action" here...like a falling girl and the guys trying to catch her...
its pretty static as it is now (hell, it cannot be the other way round as this is what this girls is excersising, isnt it?) but really this is too "cute" to my taste...
best wishes, j.

Hello Sam
I am getting flashbacks to my catholic school days and seeing some kind of a symbolism of the trinity and a cross both in one image.
THe point of view is excellent and you ahve captured their concentration quite well.

Strange, Sam. but I feel this one has a very jolly composition, undulating from figure to figure. The color is nice and it is a good record of a weird activity (and thought that it was only in Asia that we do weird things!) I suppose the the faces being underexpose takes something from it's impact, but still and interesting picture. The whole series in fun. regards kevin
