Photographer's Note

To get into the corral surrounding the Cousins Barn, you go through this little gate. To me, the gate is a door to my childhood - I spent many afternoons playing with ponies inside the corral. As it has gotten older and the farm is visited less frequently, the gate, like many other fences, buildings, etc. on the property, has slowly become overtaken by nature. You can still open this gate, but it has become much more difficult.

I look at this gate and remember a time when I found a garter snake sliding sneakily underneath the fence posts. I remember leading a pony through the gate to the orchard. So many memories come back to me, and I'm glad that I now have a photograph to remind me of those blissful, care-free days of being a little kid.
