Watching the Watcher, a photo from Utah, West

Photographer's Note

While I was snapping away during the recent Utah Grand Prix at Miller Motorsports Park in Toeele, Utah I noticed that I wasn't alone...This fellow is part of the 'professional' photographers at the race and was able to position himself right at the apex of the first turn...in a position that I would have loved to be in. As I watched him through my lens I wondered if he realized that I was doing so and if he could see me as well...

The car in the foreground is a Panoz Esperante GTLM, from one of the founders of the American Le Mans Series, Don Panoz. Panoz is based out of Georgiaa and are really kind of interesting cars. Don Panoz reminds me a little bit of Carroll Shelby...only he's not nuts and he has business sense.

Nothing special about the exposure, aperture priority, wide open, Nikon doing all of the work.

Robert, another great shot of view:)
While visiting F-1 and MotoGP I also saw hordes of these guys with cameras which cost half of a racing car :)

Amazing picture!
I was also present during some races in Spa-Francorchamp and was also frustrated no being able to use the Professional Official photo places!
Anyway, I captured some other interesting shots ! I suppose you make the same!

Nice capture Robert - and I love the fact that in your note you put the work professional in quotes!!!

Personnaly I would be tempted to try a portrait crop of your image. A lot of it is superfluous as, in this case, the focus is not ion the car but the photographer. You only need enough of the car in the shot to make it clear what he is taking photos of.

Just a thought!!
