A little over 4 miles north of downtown Prescott, the Granite Dells buttress the two man-made lakes (Watson and Willow). The rock is Proterozoic in age, formed about 1.4 billion (1,400,000,000) years ago. Through the process of speroidal weathering it has been rounded and formed in to a variety of interesting shapes. This stoic gentleman with his topi is just one of them on the northern and eastern edges of Willow Lake.
