Photographer's Note

Please open in a new tab for the best view.

As the remnants of the sunset fade in the distance, the rising, nearly full, moon takes over the task of lighting the scenery. Its lower height above the horizon limits what it can throw into the canyon, creating longer and deeper shadows.

Having said that, I was nearing the end of my early evening photography as I found the moon's light was overwhelming the stars I hoped to capture. There will be one more photo in this series.

ISO 640, f/4.5 for 10 seconds, 16mm focal length
