Photographer's Note

Nowhere to run! A storm, miles away up stream, can send a flash flood coursing through the West Fork of Oak Creek's narrow canyon, sweeping all before it. The canyon's steep, and often overhanging, walls feel unscalable and the hiker penetrating beyond the end of the maintained trail needs to know the weather forecast and keep a wary eye on the water level while constantly plotting a path to higher ground as it's not possible to outrun a flash flood.rnrnThis is the third of my short Beyond West Fork series. There will be one more photo.rnrnISO 200, f/13 at 1/500 second, 32mm focal length
