Photographer's Note
One last glacier from my Alaska trip. When I posted my last B&W photo some people said they'd have preferred a colour version, others loved the B&W.
As a result here is my preferred B&W photo of Grewingk Glacier which is across the water from Homer.
For those who prefer colour you can go to the workshop for my colour version
Best in the large view.

Hello Ian, I like the black and white version but I prefer to see some blue in the glaciers. Stunning composition, I like the curvy lines. Amazing sharpness. I am fascinated with the glaciers. Have you an opportunity to walk on one of them? It is possible in Patagonia.
Kind regards MAlgo

Hello Ian,
very strong effect in B&W. The clouds are spectaculair and the snow is well defined like this.
Thanks and regards,
Gerrit

Hello Ian,
A really impressive photo of this glacier. I usually prefer colour versions, but the B&W adds a really great dramatic effect here. Especially the low-hanging clouds look fantastic, but also the textures of the glacier look good.

Hello Ian,
There are so few colours in the WS that it makes little difference which version to watch. This is in any case a matter of the symmetry created by the mountains and the amazing composition you managed.
Best regards,
Gert

for me the BW is greatest!
in colors we have just blue and grey and it's really cold! here the contrast is more impressive
Is this glacier on the way to regress? why this black curve on it? it's a moraine but in the middle?

Hi Ian,
I think B&W is the right choice this time. Contrasts are just awesome and fit so well with B&W treatment, while there are not so many colour variations. That big glacier is worth a long journey itself. And the clouds look really crazy. No wonder they say the weather in Alaska is very unpredictable.

Hello IAn
One of your best by far. The B/W capture is awesome with the hard contrast. A spectacular view here. Looks so surreal. I like it.

Hello Ian, I like both versions but in the B&W the textures of the different elements are much clearer. It is almost symmetrical in its' composition.
What a view! Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Ian,
I have a slight preference for the color version just because I'd like to see the blue in the glacier. However, both are fine photos. 👍🏻👍🏻

MT

Hi Ian
the black and white version certainly has more IMPACT and stronger contrasts...what why it works so well. Great post for you to have in your gallery. So dramatic. bravo

Hi Ian,
wow this is a spectacular view!
I like the unusual symmetrical composition with two sharp peaks mirroring each other in the centre and mountain slopes on left and right framing the scene.
You are right about the colors. In 99% cases I prefer the color but occasionally when the colors are washed out and they don't contribute much I also turn to black and white.
I think it was a right decision.
The clouds in the sky are amazing too. So beautiful -almost surreal!
Excellent work!!!
