Towers of San Francisco

Early evening in San Francisco. This photo was taken from The Embarcadero, the waterfront running along San Francisco Bay. Seen here are three of SF’s most prominent towers: from left to right: Coit Tower, Salesforce Tower, and the Transamerica Pyramid.

Coit Tower is a 64-metre tall tower, standing on top of the 84-metre high Telegraph Hill. The art-deco tower was built in 1933. Salesforce Tower is the latest addition to the SF skyline. It is due to be completed in early 2018 and at 326 metres it has recently surpassed the Transamerica Pyramid as the tallest tower in town. The Transamerica Pyramid (260m) was completed in 1972 and used to be the headquarters of the Transamerica Corporation until the company moved to Baltimore.
