Photographer's Note

O'Shaughnessy Dam continues to prevent public enjoyment of Yosemite National Park's second valley - Hetch Hetchy. The only access is walking across the dam. In this image the large intake water system is basically the two concrete towers and supporting tunnels. This is the 'pristine drinking' water system for the City of San Francisco. Today, the obsolete dam could be removed and a stainless steel pipe system below the ground surface could maintain the pristine drinking water. A 'win win' for everyone, especially the Public with the first step to opening the National Park access.
