Photographer's Note

In 1893, the FRONTIER THESIS by Frederick Jackson Turner proposed that the "American Democracy" was formed in the West. The evolving and moving of the frontier line with pioneers moving westward resulted in the American Democracy. Liberty did not come out of the Atlantic Coast, it came from new, unknown lands permitting exploration and freedom, no longer tied to European ethics. The frontier had no standing armies, established churches, aristocrats or nobles, nor for landed gentry who controlled most of the land and charged heavy rents. And this increased dramatically with President Lincoln's "Homestead Act" giving free land to anyone willing to explore the West. Frontier Land was free for the taking.
The results were a democratic people.

Unfortunately today, it seems we are going backwards, beholding to the Rich & Powerful, and the freedoms of the westward movement are long gone.

In this view, a westward movement cattle ranch house and barn are returning to the Earth.......
