Photographer's Note

Here's another picture from the reenactment of the Battle of Cloyd's Mountain, this time of some Confederate soldiers. This reenactment unit is the First Stuart Mounted Artillery, from the small town of Stuart, VA. Notice their dress is not nearly as uniform as the Union troops in the prior photograph. Many of the defenders (the Confederates) were home defense forces from the surrounding area. These fellows are just off the driveway and the union troops in the prior photo. notice the same house in the background. Part of the reenactment are the army campgrounds where present day folks can see what it was like in the field. This was a small engagement so there was no battle field preservation as at Gettysburg, Mananas, or Appomattox so the the camping and reenactment took place on a private farm 5 or 6 miles from the original battle site.
