Photographer's Note

In recent decades, the Brooklyn Bridge has been refurbished to accommodate modern-day traffic needs. The bridge now has six lanes of automobile traffic and serves as a crossing for approximately 145,000 vehicles per day. Also, many tourists and residents flock to the Brooklyn bridge to take a scenic stroll, or to simply cross the river. Even after 120 years, the bridge still has the 44th longest main span among the world's suspension bridges. In 1964, it was designated a National Historic Landmark by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
