Photographer's Note

This photo is taken near the Eastern side of Mt. St. Helens near the Windy Ridge viewpoint. This was taken in the end of May when there is still plenty of snow to cover the top of the mountain. From this vantage point you get a good look at the crater and it is easy to see how much of the mountain was blown off in the eruption on May 18, 1980. To see the devastation in person is really a humbling experience. This viewpoint is a mere 23 miles North from my home.
