Photographer's Note
This is the view looking from Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park. Please click on the image to see the hi-res version. Olympic National Park is rather large, in fact it’s the size of Rhode Island. My POV is close to 5700 feet (1737 m). The road on the far left is the road that takes you to the Hurricane Ridge Visitor's center, which is close to where I took this. My POV for my last panoramic was on the extreme left of this one. I was so happy that the weather finally turned in my favor. I assembled this panorama from two shots. Again I put this together using Autostitch. I didn't take these with the intention of doing a panorama. I was planning on posting each one individually until I realized I had enough overlap for a panorama. I ran each one through my DxO software, then through Autostitch. Most of the editing here was with the clone brush filling in the edges that fell short from the stitching process. Taken in late afternoon.

Hi Stephen,
The detail is absolutely outstanding -- your stitching is seamless and the result is so sharp and clear.
The composition is great too... I love the shafts of light and the really wide angle of view.
Excellent work.

Boonjour Stephen,
Best regards.
Daniel.

Stephen I think I have seen all of your photos in your gallery but this one tops them all. What a wonderful capture of mountian scenery. I love the light shadows on the mountian tops as the sunlight filters through the clouds. Amazing and stunning to view the larger photo. Seems to me autostitch works very well. I get frustrated when stitching doesn't work. You really have a winning photo here Stephen. Congrats to you on this one! Cheers as always.

Fantastic view Steve; I can see what we missed when we were there. There is so much detail in the large version. Considering you did not even take these shots with the intention of stitching you did a fine job.

A fine photo of the grand landscape, Steve, that absolutely lends itself to being presented as a large-size panorama. Good result with the stitching and nice array of autumn colors all across the scene. The subtle way in which the light towards the right falls on the green mountain slopes makes for a pleasant and authentic rendering of the atmosphere.

Hi Steve,
A grand and deep view from this good overlooking PoV, I like here the warm/cold opposition between the foreground warm V and the cold dark forest covered background mountains. The clouds are nice too, especially where they remain hanging as on the left side, good stitching, only minor thing to mention are small color variations in the center, most probably resulting from the filter use.
Have a nice week end,
Jean-Yves

Exquisite view, Stephen! I love how the low point of view adds such drama to the curves and sense of perspective here. Nice colors, tones and clarity, too!

Hi Stephen,
An amazing shot. This is a very successful stitch job. The undulating folds of the hills really take the eye in the foreground and then one is fascinated by the lines and graphics of the forest clad mountains beyond. Two distinct scenes, with very pleasing hues that blend well together. The dreamy clouds cloak the scene with a pleasant ambience. I like this shot very much, Steve. Very well seen and captured.

This is a great panorama, especially considering it was not originally taken with that intention. I like the balance between the foreground and background, and the sweeping curves of the landscape. Great work!

Hi Stephen,
Lewis and Fernando best describe the techical aspects of your photo for me, but it's more than that. I feel like I could just fall into that valley it has such great presence in your composition.
You're really motivating me to do a panorama. Actually, I've done three but when I think of the quality of your last two panoramas, I've decided to wait until I can up up with something just a little closer to their quality.
I appreciate your useful note as well

Hi Stephen,
I looked at this shot a few times before writing this to see whether I have the same feeling as the first. Each time I was attracted by the glow that seemed to come from below the valleys on each side of the distant mountain and the highlighted part in the midground compliments and make it even more attractive. Indeed a very scenic panorama and you have done a wonderful job getting it all together - the stitch and the technical control. Congratulations!! All the best.

Hi Stephen - I see you're mastering the witchcraft of photo stitching, great fisheye effect here, the dry looking grass makes a fine contrast with the lush conifer forests in the distance, it must have been a very dry summer I've never seen the grass so yellow in the Olympic pen. looks more like California.

This is a great image and is a good representation of what Hurricane Ridge looks like in September. You did a great job metering and capturing the image - in the center of the image you can kind of see where you stiched it together, but it still looks great. Thanks for sharing,

I like how the yellow grass contrasts with the blue-green upper half of the image. The extrem wide angle view also gives a good impression of the "top-of-the-world" feeling of the place. I think I took my hurrican-ridge shot from about the same spot :-)
