Mount Rainier
Paradise Road - Paradise-Longmire Rd - Packwood, WA 98361 USA

For our trip further southwards from Seattle to Portland we decided the avoid the highways and pass the famous Mount Rainier and the MT Rainier National Park on the east and the south side. The weather was splendid but there was still some haze of the Canadian forest fires.
We found the best viewpoints on the south side when we drove on the Stevens Canyon Road to Paradise.

The three pictures of this presentation show:

Main picture Panorama from the viewpoint at GPS 46.783598, -121.750131
– On Google Maps using streetview you can find this point with the naked tree, but without the mount Rainier (hidden in the clouds)

First Workshop Shows a wider panorama of the Volcano with less foreground vegetation.

Second Workshop Shows some of the colourful plants, here growing at a heights of 3000 m.

Mount Rainier is the highest mountain of the Cascade Range of the Pacific Northwest, and the highest mountain in the U.S. state of Washington. It is a large active stratovolcano located 54 miles (87 km) south-southeast of Seattle, in the Mount Rainier National Park. It is the most topographically prominent mountain in the contiguous United States and the Cascade Volcanic Arc, with a summit elevation of 4,392 m. (14,411 ft)

Mt. Rainier is considered one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world, and it is on the Decade Volcano list. Because of its large amount of glacial ice, Mt. Rainier could produce massive lahars that could threaten the entire Puyallup River valley, and poses a grave threat to the southern sections of the Seattle metropolitan area, a city of over 650,000 people with more than 3.7 million living in its metropolitan area.
