Photographer's Note

Utah's Valley of the Gods has many gigantic rock formations stimulating the imagination. I see in this image the Egyptian sky god 'Horus', who was depicted as a falcon. Horus's right eye was associated with the sun god 'Ra', which coincidentally my name Ray is derived from. The eye of Horus symbolizes the 'teardrop' below the eye.
In Egyptian mythology, after the death of Osiris, Horus and Seth fought for the throne, and Seth gouged out Horus's left eye. The god Hathor restored the eye, and Horus offered it to his father Osiris, in hope of restoring his life. The eye of Horus has come to mean sacrifice, healing, restoration, and protection.

For scale in this photo note the green specks are trees measuring 30 to 50 feet in height.
