Photographer's Note

When you fly over this fascinating land which is mostly high desert you sometimes ask yourself why on earth someone chose this corner to start a farming business. Summer temperatures may easily reach the upper 90 F. These days you probably have air conditioning in the trucks but there were days when this was not the case and you stood in the blazing summer heat trying to grow plants. I thought this picture gives an interesting idea what I mean by “trying to grow”. Green River is maybe 10 minutes away from this shot so the river (with the same name as the town) is the source of these fields below.

Green River Airport has a concrete runway with plenty of room to land. It was our forth flight to this place and we actually never saw anybody landing or taking off or someone visiting the airport at all. One of my favorite flights by the way. It is outstandingly beautiful.

Funny enough our nearest neighbor (his name is Bob and we actually never met) during our two weeks house sitting above the Colorado National Monument has an old car standing in the parking lot outside Green River Airport. Bob has his own aircraft and he obviously likes Green River but it is mainly a restaurant that has the best burgers in the area (he says). So whenever Bob feels hungry he flies to Green River. The most expensive burgers I would say :))))
