Photographer's Note

At a recent TE meeting, we stayed in Mitchel Oregon.
The town of Mitchell has a park that allows camping right in the middle of town.

Heading out from out campsite to the Painted Hills, to catch the sunrise, I commented, “ I just saw the strangest bird. It looked like a goose with a turkey’s head.” Larry insisted on turning around for a closer look at what turned out to be a guineafowl.

A rangy mutt was sitting nearby eyeing me suspiciously for signs of bird molestation. When he heard someone moving in the house, he gave a warning bark. The woman who came out said, “That bird hitched a ride when the truck came in from the bird farm. Once he got here, he wouldn’t let anyone catch him. Then he moved in with me. When I go to the post office, both the bird and the dog have to go with me.”

When I looked up the bird farm online, I discovered it was a game ranch!! No wonder this smart bird wouldn’t let anyone catch him.
