Photographer's Note

This view of the Crown Point and the Columbia River Gorge was taken at the Women's Forum Viewpoint near Corbet, Oregon along the Old Historic Gorge Highway. The large rock far left is Beacon Rock, the outer remnants of an ancient volcano. The name Beacon Rock was first given to the rock by the earliest travelers along the Oregon Trail, as the rock signaled they were near the Willamette Valley and the end of the trail at Oregon City, yet some 30 miles distant.
