Photographer's Note

These are the Nambe Falls on the Nambe reservation a few miles north of Santa Fe, the New Mexico capital.

The falls are the result of a dam on the Nambe river and three levels on to two pools. This is the second fall into the second pool.

The photo was taken on the pre-dam waterfall cliff edge.

To get here, one walks along side the river until you are forced into the shallow river between two large rock cliffs forming a narrow passage. The water is ice cold but well worth the knee-deep walk. You can also bathe in the deeper pool at the bottom of the falls.
