Photographer's Note

On the top of an over 3,000 metre volcano (Haleakala on Maui) is a great place to have an observatory because you are way up above the interfering lights of the towns down below.
Here you can see the slope dropping away to the ocean way below with the ground being a desolate red/brown. A great place for astronomers.
