Photographer's Note
This little cabin is along Red Mountain Pass just outside of Ouray, Colorado and is a part of the San Juan Mountains. The top of the pass is at 11,085 ft. elevation. "The Million Dollar Highway stretches for about 25 miles (40 km) in western Colorado and follows the route of U.S. 550 between Silverton and Ouray, Colorado. It is part of the San Juan Skyway Scenic Byway. Between Durango and Silverton the Skyway loosely parallels the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.
U.S. Route 550 at the Uncompahgre Gorge
Though the entire stretch has been called the Million Dollar Highway, it is really the twelve miles (19 km) south of Ouray through the Uncompahgre Gorge to the summit of Red Mountain Pass which gains the highway its name, (Wikipedia). Legend has it that the highway got its name because it cost a million dollar a mile to build in the 1920's and because the fill dirt contains a million dollars of ore, or so the legend goes.
It started to snow when we were setting up our tripods and then it was followed by rain about 10 minutes later. We were so lucky to get this shot.
About 5 minutes down the highway there is a lovely waterfall and the mountains were shrouded in gray misty clouds. Such a memorable day.
Please enjoy my photo....

Howdy Karen,
Not only a fine autumn vision for the coloring and cabin, but also very "atmospheric" with the rain streaks.
There is a famous 'hanging miner's cabin' in the Ouray area but on a treacherous dirt road requiring high clearance 4 wheel drive.
Best wishes,
Cheers,
Ray

Hello Karen,
Wow! What an unique and original capture executed during such a great moment! Impressive visual effect achieved here by taking the scene with heavy rain outside. Brilliant image! Like it a lot!

Hello Karen,
fascinating the view as the presentation of this Autumn scenery with the wooden cabin to do the photo to looks like as a painting.Excellent the light and the colour manegement of the image.

Hi Karen,
This is such a good photo! The streaks of rain drops and the fading yellows of the season evoke that cold, wet autumn atmosphere so well. I feel the dampness just looking at it! A great success.
Cheers,
William
