Photographer's Note

A daily hike from base camp to the ridge of Mount Massive to work on the trail allowed for a brief view of neighboring Mount Elbert (14,443 feet / 4,402 meters).

Mount Elbert is the highest peak in Colorado, approximately 20 feet higher than #2 Mount Massive. Of the peaks in the contiguous 48 states in the United States (which excludes Alaska), only Mount Whitney in California is higher.

This photo was taken at about 6:45 AM, shortly after sunrise. My next post will include a slightly different view.
