Photographer's Note
Alluvial Fan Falls - Rocky Mountain National Park.
I got this shot today despite my bad cold. We didn't go on a hike just kind of bumbled along the road side and climbed up into these falls.
I had planned on coming here this afternoon because the weather report was dreary .. great time for slow exposures ... but of course the weather forecast was wrong .. and so Andrew and I sat here waiting upon each cloud to take a few shots ..
In 1982 this area was the site of the Lawn Lake flood when an old dam up in the mountains burst. 3 people were killed and there was $31 million in damage.

The vegetation is just starting to return .. the area is covered with large dead trees and 3 and 4 feet tall baby trees.

Hi John,
Lovely shot. I like that this photo shows snow too, I'm still in the autumn mood as it's autumn here. The long exposure made that pretty effect on the water, well done, good that the difference between water and snow is clearly recognizable.
Superb sharpness. What I also like is that the rocks provide autumn colours, this blends nicely with the winter scene.
Good POV & Compo.
Regards,
Emiel.

Hi John,
Nice exposure the softness of the falling water gives sharpness to the snow and rocks. Oh yeah Take a bowl of chicken soup and call me in the morning.

Hi John:
Looks like you've already got the slow-shutter river shots with snow down! I like the texture of the rocks, river, and snow all combined. Thanks for sharing.

Really sharp photo. Very nice texture on the rock. You are inspiring me to experiment with long exposure shots. There's a jungle not far behind my house. I'll take a walk there & see what I can find. Latiff.
