Photographer's Note

The southwest side of Mount Shasta, northern California, from Bunny Flats at sunset. "Shasta" may have originated from the original Russian settlers in the area. In the native Karuk language in the area, the meaning of their name for this mountain was "white".

Mount Shasta, a stratovolcano, is the second highest peak in the Cascade Mountains besides Mount Rainier, but the most voluminous.
