Photographer's Note

An above average snow pack melted rapidly by warm rain and hot weather caused much of Yosemite National Park to flood. The flooding began on May 16th, 2005 and in some areas persists to this day (May 25th, 2005).

The valley is no stranger to flooding and the water plays an important part in redistributing nutrients and minerals. While playing an important part in the ecosystem it also provides yet another reason to visit the park. It makes the numerous waterfalls cascading into the valley simply amazing.
