Photographer's Note
I believe this is of the Genus Opuntia, which is a cactus native to North and South America. It was taken at the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden (www.sbbg.org).
We spent Christmas in Santa Barbara in 2004. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there, particularly the Zoo and Botanic Garden.

Well Don I would have to say I am no expert on these kind of photos other than to say your lighting here is excellent with the shadows of the spikes on the cacti which makes this an interesting study. Nice blurred background allows the viewer to focus on the essential details in this frame. Good work Don!

Hi Donald,
You chose a very well subject, and took a wonderful picture through the different soft colours, lovely cactus detail! Very well done! Tfs.
Greetings,
John.
