Photographer's Note

San Juan Bautista, California's fifteenth mission, was founded in 1797 by Friar Fermin Lasuen. Named for John the Baptist, the mission was very successful and was built efficiently and timely by the Native Americans support and labor.
Disaster struck in 1906 with an earthquake and not until 1950 would sufficient repairs restore the mission.
