Photographer's Note

the GG bridge along highway 101 north, links san francisco with marin county. it was considered unbuildable before its completion in 1937 because of the foggy, misty and cloudy weather (similar to what is seen in this photo), 60mph winds and strong ocean currents sweeping thru a deep canyon below. eleven men lost their lives during the construction. this 1.2-mile wonder took more than four years to build. the color of the bridge known as international orange was chosen because it blends well with it's natural surroundings. the best way to see the bridge is to walk accross it which takes an hour roundtrip, and yes dress warmly whatever time of the year when walking the bridge. welcome to the city by the bay!
