Photographer's Note

This is one of my all time favorite photos I have taken. I had just bought my new camera and was working so much I couldn't even test it out for a few weeks this was my first day trip out. This is Rodeo Beach in the Marin Headlands just to North of San Francisco. There was a storm that had just passed but all the clouds were still around. There is a bridge which goes over a little pond and then a slight upgrade before it slopes back down and just below the horizon on the otherside is the Pacific Ocean. I was crossing the bridge when I saw this man standing there just not moving and staring away at the Sea, I took about 25 shots over a few minutes, he stood there. This is his daughter, who later went over to him. This was taken the same day as my "Man and Earth" shot.

PP: converted to black and white using a gradient map and selective color adjustment layer below that to set color tones. I used shadows/shadows highlights adjusment and one curve for the top above the horizon, and a brighter curve for the bottom.
