Photographer's Note

The last lighthouse built on the west coast was here at Anacapa Island on 1931. Its position at the top of the Island permitted a shorter light. It is important for ship navigation through the Santa Barbara Channel, due to the number of islands posing obstacles.
Also seen in this view is the huge Anacapa arch.
