Omega window in this new Catholic Cathedral here....First of its kind, light is projected(pushes thru) 92,000 pixels (orsmall holes) ranging 1/4 inch to 1 1/4inch on flat pannels. Inspired by an image from Chartes Cathedral just outside Paris france. The Cathedral itself in is in the shape of the Vesica Piscis).
This is the Second Cathedral for the Diocese of Oakland. The first was severly damaged by the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989. This new cathedral and its design have won numerous architecture awards world wide. Designed by Craig Hartman of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill.
They offer free public tours every weekday at 1:00 pm Something to really worth taking a look at if you are ever in town.
