Photographer's Note

Winter has started in the Sierra Nevadas in early winter, as witnessed by this view across Horseshoe Lake towards the setting sun.
The same hiking trails enjoyed in summer become fine cross country skiing trails in winter.

I prefer the comfort of a bed and cooked meal, so I do not venture out on skiis farther than I can safely return to a 'base-camp'. In this case, rustic Tamarack Lodge is only several miles back and across from Twin Lakes. Sleep is blissful and the next sunrise beckons me on to the next adventure.
