Photographer's Note

The McGee Creek hiking trail is located off Highway 395 south of Mammoth Lakes and north of Tom's Place.
In this scene is the Pack Station closed for the season with the horses trailered down the mountain for the winter.

The road ends not too far beyond the pack station. A trail parallels McGee Creek, headed up into the heart of the Sierra Nevadas. It is about a 3 hour hike to the heart of McGee Canyon, a very colorful geological wonderland. The area is also fine for trout fishing.
Here are the distances to popular fishing lakes - 6 miles to Round Lake, or 6 to Grass Lake, and Steelhead Lake trail is 7 miles.
