Photographer's Note

The Walt Disney Concert Hall is obviously a popular building for amateur and professional photographers, a professional shoot was underway during our recent visit. This is a view of the building that I did not yet see posted on TrekEarth.

Lesley, our guide for the free tour, explained that this wall of the Walt Disney Concert Hall created an illusion of a river by the reflection of the sky and the wall opposite.

FYI, the building has free tours, ours started at 11 am on Sunday. Parking underneath the concert hall is $9. Take the escalators up to the lobby opposed to the elevators for a great first impression of the building. The tour takes you through the garden, lobby, rooftop, and the lecture hall. Our guide Lesley explained the design history of building, the use of magnets to move the cleaners along the building, how the metal on the side of the structure was attached, and the buffing down of one side of the building due to reflections into a neighboring apartment complex. The exterior rooftop is available to all visitors via the stairs on the side of the building (190 stairs). I spent a few hours downtown visiting other buildings including the Museum of Contemporary Art just one block away. Upon return to the concert hall, the building looked completely different in the late afternoon sun.
