This is why most baseball teams put their fastest, speediest player in centerfield, because they have ALOT of ground to cover!

I can practically smell the freshly-cut summer grass just looking at this picture. Or, at least smell the peanuts and hot dogs at the ballpark. This view is from one of the worst seats at the stadium, but all of us who love baseball would say that any seat at any baseball game is a great seat.

Baseball became “America’s Pastime” as an extremely popular sport during and just after the American Civil War over 140 years ago, says wiki.answers.com. It was called "America's Pastime" because during the late 19th and early 20th century it was probably the most widely played sport in the country, literally how America passed the time. Some argue that football (American football, not most of the world's "football") is more popular these days.

This player is Chone Figgins, on the “Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim” team, as they’re officially called now, although not many people like it or call them by this new, long, cumbersome name.

They get the striped patterns in the grass by the direction they mow it. Don’t ask me how it actually works, I could never get a pattern mowing my own lawn. The patterns they make in the outfield grass can get pretty fancy, sometimes even the team logo.

So any of you cricket players or cricket watchers out there, is there anything comparable to this scene in cricket? Someday I'd like to see a comparison of baseball to cricket to see just how different, or similar, they really are.
