Photographer's Note
It kind of looks like a volcano erupting, but no we don't have them in the Los Angeles area. It's a wildfire in the hills of Orange County south of LA. Seems like we've been having lots more problems with wildfires than earthquakes the past few years. It took a few days to put out this fire and several others near it in the rugged hills of the Cleveland National Forest, but the hundreds of firefighters did a great job and no houses were damaged and nobody was harmed.

Wow, Dave, that's an impressive shot. And you're right, it does look like a volcano. Good POV, color, detail even in the dark part of the foreground. Those firefighters must be some mighty men. Great shot and excellent note. TFS, Shelly

Hi Dave,
I really believe it was a volcano erupting before reading your note. That's a very impressive picture, well framed. Thanks for sharing.
Marc.

Hi Dave,
nice (not really nice for the forest) and dramatic picture. It really seems like a volcano's eruption. The main thing here is the side or almost backlight that is making the smoke even more dramatic. I like the composition very much.
Have a nice sunday,
Tomi
