Series on my trip to the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA) - NORTH AMERICA - Visiting LAS VEGAS, LAKE MEAD, HOOVER DAM, RED ROCK CANYON and the VALLEY OF FIRE (NEVADA), the GRAND CANYON - WEST AND SOUTH RIMS (ARIZONA), BRYCE CANYON, RED CANYON and ZION CANYON (UTAH) and finally CHICAGO (ILLINOIS) - From APRIL 05th to 24th, 2012 - # 016 !

BREATHTAKING VIEWS BEGIN TO COME UP RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY EYES DURING A HELICOPTER FLIGHT OVER THE GRAND CANYON'S WEST RIM !

The main reason I went to LAS VEGAS was to visit its surroundings (nearby or not). One of the options was to know the GRAND CANYON'S WEST RIM (by bus, by car or by helicopter)! Since I really didn't know whether I'd ever go back there, I decided to do everything I could, so, my tour to that place included: a bus from LAS VEGAS to BOULDER CITY; a plane from BOULDER CITY to the GRAND CANYON'S WEST RIM, flying over the HOOVER DAM and LAKE MEAD; a helicopter, flying over the CANYON and going down to the COLORADO RIVER; a boat, navigating in the COLORADO RIVER; a helicopter, going up again to the edges to the CANYON; a bus to visit the surroundings, including in the SKYWALK in the EAGLE'S POINT and finally, a plane, back to BOULDER CITY and a bus, back to LAS VEGAS!

This picture was taken while taking a helicopter flight, in a moment where it had just crossed the edge of that abyssal wonder!

Hello Neyvan,

To see the canyon from a helicopter must be one of the best ways to experience it. This is a wonderful, expansive shot of the canyon, detailing the eroded rocks and the snaking river. Your shot is beautifully composed, with the river emerging from a strong point and disappearing at a corner of the frame.
Your hand must have been very steady in the helipcopter.

A superb high pov overlooking the spectacular Grand Canyon. I like the textural details & striated rock layer patterns here. Nice warm colors that contrast well against the blue & grey striped sky. Good sharpness & well composed. Tfs!

la extraordinaria belleza de este lugar está perfectamente captada en esta foto, con una bonita luz y unos colores sublimes.
La calidad de la imagen es muy alta a pesar de estar tomada desde un helicóptero, y su nitidez y el efecto tridimensional creado por la luz y las sombras sobre estas maravillosas formaciones rocosas, aumentan la belleza de la composición.
Es un trabajo excelente, amigo.

PS:acabo de voltar de outra caminhada, duas horas para ir e outras duas para voltar e umas 3 horas de caminhada e almoço lá.

Hi Ney,
thanks again for sharing these unique views from the little known (to me) West Rim. Spectacular vistas, breath taking indeed. I like again especially the aspect of the river passing in between the canyon.
