Photographer's Note

The Tres Alamos (3 Poplars) Wilderness is to the west of highway US 93 north of Wickenburg. The highway in the area is also named Joshua Tree Parkway for the vast number of them that grow on either side for a distance of more than 10 miles.

There's something about a Joshua Tree that demands silhouetting against the sky. In this photo the angle of the "tree" (it is a plant - Yucca brevifolia) and the clouds behind it give the impresion it is falling.

In the background is one of the hills separating the Tres Alamos Wilderness from the highway.

In post-processing I converted the image to B&W using Photoshop's default as the Joshua Tree stands out more in silhouette. The image was also rotated slightly (I have trouble keeping the horizon level), auto contrast applied, and finally it was brightened.
