Photographer's Note

At the base of a nearly impassible hill, the Apache Trail (State Route 88) crosses Fish Creek. The hill is notorious, a dirt track and a half, sometimes less, very rarely more with sheer rock wall on one side and a steep drop on the other and a multitude of blind curves. Trucks over 40 feet in length are prohibited and most companies that rent recreational vehicles (motor homes, camper vans, etc.) say you're not allowed to take them on that section of the road.

Looking up Fish Creek from this angle, trees and rocks appear to barricade the narrow canyon, nature's defensive line.
