Photographer's Note

This photo is of the Hackamore Road trailhead on the southeast side of the Tonto National Forest's Bulldog Canyon Recreation Area. The protrusion just to the right of center is the backside of Saddle Butte. Depending on the direction from which you view the Butte, it can look like a saddle or a turkey. The area below it was a former gravel pit/mine.

Access to the recreation area on this side is via Hackamore Road. It's initially paved, but, as it turns into Forest Road 3512, it turns to dirt and is deeply potholed. The road is gated at the trailhead and can be accessed with a code if you register with the Forest Service's Mesa Ranger District.
