Photographer's Note

The ever-so-famous Saguaro. This one I took was actually about 50 feet tall. It takes around 50 years for the first arm to sprout; this one was pretty old. Also, most people mispronounce the g in 'saguaro', so if you'd like to sound like you really know what you're talking about you can say 'suh war oh'. ;)
In fact, this was taken in the town called Sahuarita, the name actually being derived from the word 'saguarito' which means 'little saguaro' in Spanish. But nobody here could pronounce that so they changed the spelling a bit and now it's 'sahuarita'.
It's funny they went through all that trouble because still nobody can pronounce it.
