Photographer's Note

Fat and happy. Nothing to do but sit and eat. While others were busy building their town, extending their burrows, this prairie dog sat apart. Does that make him the mayor of the town or foreman of the job?

This prairie dog was part of the Phoenix Zoo's prairie dog exhibit. It's one of the exhibits where you can get close to the animals without large barriers or fencing blocking your view.

ISO 200, 1/1000 second at f/5.6, focal length 220mm
