Photographer's Note
Antelope Canyon is the most-visited and most-photographed slot canyon in the American Southwest. It is located on Navajo land near Page, Arizona. Antelope Canyon consists of two separate formations, referred to individually as Upper Antelope Canyon and Lower Antelope Canyon. This photo was taken inside the Upper Antelope Canyon looking back towards the entrance.
Antelope Canyon (like other slot canyons) formed over the course of millions of years by erosion of the surrounding sandstone (in this case, Navajo Sandstone), primarily due to flash flooding and secondarily due to wind erosion. Rainwater (especially during monsoon season) runs into the wash that Antelope Canyon is part of, picking up speed and sand as it rushes through the narrow passageways. Over time the passageways are eroded away, making the corridors wider and smoothing hard edges in such a way as to form characteristic 'flowing' shapes in the rock.

G'Day JC,
Stunning textures! The overlapping colouration of the two faces against the lighter background helps to compose a special scene. Nice to see the shaft of light in the corner also, another colour variation to add to the picture. Also, good usage if shadows.

Abstract appeal of this rocks produce interesting photo. Good definition and structure of rocks enhance by light coming through entrance outside photo produce strong composition.

Hi JC. Pretty shot here of Antelope Canyon. Lighting is excellent, as is the composition. I think I see a bit of graininess in the image (besides the graininess of the sandstone), but otherwise great shot. Thanks for sharing.
