Photographer's Note

The Blue Ice Glacier in Glacier Bay Alaska is created by snow being compacted and squeezing out air trapped in the ice. Glacier Bay has several glaciers which are formed by huge snowfalls on mountains surrounding the bay, then being compacted over the years before slowly sliding down into the sea.
