Photographer's Note
After all the technical photos from the Kennedy Space
Center now a little bit of nature - the Everglades.
Shark Valley lies in the heart of the "True
Everglades," or river of grass, that stretches 100
miles from Lake Okeechobee to the Gulf of Mexico
and can be reached over US 41 (“Tamiami Trail”).
Shark Valley is located on the northern edge of the
park and features the sawgrass expanse of the Shark
River Slough. Islands of tropical hardwood hammocks
dot the landscape. Visitors can walk, bicycle, or take
a two-hour tram ride to an observation tower
overlooking the sawgrass marsh midway around a paved
loop trail. The Everglades City Ranger Station at the
park's western edge supplies passes for backcountry
camping in the Ten Thousand Islands, which can be
explored only by boat, canoe, or kayak. A
concessionaire downstairs from the ranger station
offers interpretive boat tours through the islands.
The big flying bird in the middle is a Turkey Vulture (Cathartes aura).

Hallo Thorsten!

Hello Thorsten.
Great perspective that of this plain with such an attractive color, transmits the peace of a solitary place, the bird gives him a note of life to the place.
Regards.
Luis.

Hi Thorsten,
I love the wonderful emptiness .. I was thinking how of all the birds I associate this place with .. a vulture is not one of them .. perhaps it should be .. I know how hard birds are to catch .. especially as nice and sharp as he seems .. that said .. I wish he had ended up in the upper corner of the frame overlooking the whole image .. I like the balance of green and tan .. very nice. take care, John
