Photographer's Note
A line of canons inside of Fort Zachary Taylor in Key West.
Construction of the fort began in 1845 as part of a mid-19th century plan to defend the southeast coast through a series of forts. The fort was named for United States President Zachary Taylor in 1850, a few months after President Taylor's sudden death in office. Yellow fever epidemics and material shortages slowed construction of the fort, which continued throughout the 1850s. At the outset of the U.S. Civil War in 1861, Union Captain John Milton Brannan seized control of the fort, preventing it from falling into Confederate hands and using it as an outpost to threaten blockade runners. Originally, the fort was surrounded by water on all sides, with a walkway linking it to the island. The fort was completed in 1866, although the upper level of one side was destroyed in 1889 to make way for more modern weapons, with the older cannons being buried within the new outer wall to save on materials. The fort was heavily used again during the 1898 Spanish-American War. Wiki

Howdy Asa,
Fine view of Fort Taylor's interior, the path of brick arches continuing forever, with classical ancient iron canons, and all in fine resolution.
Your image stimulates me to return to Key West and visit the Fort.
Thanks for sharing,
cheers,

Hi Asa,
The length of the corridor is giving depth and perspective to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the arches. The light has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Bonjour Asa,
C'est vraiment le genre de composition que je recherche. Ce très bel alignement d'arches de briques est de toute beauté et donne beaucoup de profondeur à l'endroit.
Amicalement

Hello Asa,
The red color of the bricks contrasts superbly against the grey blue metallic color of the cannons. Wonderful repetition of both the cannons and the arches, reminiscent of the view through a kaleidoscope. Good sharpness and wonderful use of diminishing linear perspective, with a good exposure level on the bright highlights. Tfs!

Hello Asa,
The red bricks make very interesting, textural surfaces, that change with colour, as the eyes travel irresistibly under each repeating arches from a large f/g to a very reduced b/g doorway. The sense of perspective is very well created!
I don't think I have ever seen such plump cannons, before! They certainly add details to the experience!
Have a great w/e,
Bev :-)

Like the use of perspective on this one with lovely tones and repetition at it's best on both side of the stretching depth creating a strong composition. Great viewpoint indeed well worth taking of such classy stuff finely put together. Beautiful, full of content and interest. Great work, Congrats.

Hello Asa,
You've written a very interesting and informative note and also given us a lovely photograph to illustrate it!
Not just because of my surname, I love pictures of old cannons and fortifications and this is a very inspiring photograph on account of its tremendous perspective along the long tunnel joining the casemates with the breeches of the cannons perfectly seen disappearing into the distance.
Your strong composition is excellent as are the light and colours, your exposure and the depth of field and sharpness.
Fabulous!
Kind Regards,
John.
