AMOR in Washington DC

POP ART artist Robert Indiana created in 1964 the world famous symbol of LOVE.
In 2008 he created an image similar to LOVE, but this time showcasing the word “HOPE”
HOPE at the corner of 7th Ave and 53rd street in NEW YORK CITY

But there is also AMOR (Large beta version)

Robert Indiana’s AMOR is installed in National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden Washington, DC
AMOR (conceived 1998, executed 2006) is in the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden.

A play on Indiana’s famous LOVE sculpture, AMOR is constructed from red and yellow polychrome aluminium.

Bonjour, cher Rob,
C'est par le « Independent Group » (IG) que le Pop art est apparu à Londres, en 1952. Ce groupe est perçu comme le précurseur du mouvement Pop art. Ses artistes remettaient en question les points de vue traditionnels des beaux-arts et la culture actuelle.
Merci de nous faire apprécier cet art très particulier.

Een heel mooi symbool, maar heden ten dage blijft er niet veel van over, maar dit zal wel aan mijn leeftijd liggen denk ik.
Maar dit neemt niet weg, dat uw foto heel mooi genomen is, met een wazige achtergrond.

This lacks the urban liveliness of the HOPE photo, but this is also an attractive sculpture and the green environment suits the mainly red material perfectly.

The trees and the vegetation are framing well the sculpture. The point of view is showing the details of the artwork. The good luminosity is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

Hallo Rob,
Het zachte licht dat door het gebladerte schijnt geeft een mooie gloed aan de rode letters, die op hun beurt weer sterk contrasteren met de groene omgeving.

Hello Rob,

You have written an interesting note, including a link to your fine photograph of "Hope", and shown us a lovely picture of "Amor".

The light falling on the face and sides of this simple yet striking sculpture makes its and its vibrant colours stand out brilliantly against the soft natural background of trees and bushes. An excellent bold composition with lovely light, rich colours, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness.

Hello Rob, Sometimes the artists when have success in something, then multiply it . The examples can be men from letters or spheres by Pomodoro. Here it is the same. I swa LOVE in several places, here the same - different langague and colours. But it looks attractive.

The bright blood red Amor sign contrast well with the blue cyan shadows of the bg to give a superb warm cold color contrast. Good sharpness and nice use of a shallow dof. The yellow & pink magenta colors add to the color palette. Tfs!
